Windows & Ladders

I have always been fascinated by ladders and windows. A ladder seems to ask us to climb — to reach higher, look farther, and wonder what might be waiting at the top. A window asks us to look through — into another place, another time, perhaps even another life. We often say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Maybe that is why an old window can make me wonder about the people who once stood there, looking out.
